City of Joplin to dole out tornado donations l-onstot

The city of Joplin has announced that the Board of Trustees of the Joplin Tornado First Response Fund, established to distribute donations made on behalf of the city of Joplin in the wake of the May 22, 2011 tornado, is now soliciting grant requests. The amount of grant funds available for the first cycle of funding is $350,000.00

Grants will be made to charitable organizations and governmental entities whose proposed uses of the funds include:

  1. Relief to tornado victims

  2. Rebuilding and restoring infrastructure

  3. Enhancing disaster preparedness through improved warning and safety measures.

Applications are due on Friday, May 25, 2012, by 11 a.m. Incomplete or late submissions will be not be accepted.

To submit a grant proposal, go here. Joplin Tornado First Response Funds are currently held by the Community Foundation of Southwest Missouri, an affiliate of the Community Foundation of the Ozarks.
