Lamar and Seneca parishes get new pastor

Bishop James V. Johnston of the Diocese of Springfield-Cape Girardeau recently announced that Fr. Patrick A.Teter will begin a new assignment as pastor of St. Mary Parish, Lamar, and St. Mary Parish, Seneca. The assignments are effective July 1, 2013.

Born in Rockford, Illinois, Fr. Teter was ordained to the priesthood on November 21, 1992, in St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish, by Bishop John J. Leibrecht.

Fr. Teter attended Kenrick-Glennon Seminary in St. Louis where he earned a Master of Divinity degree.

His previous assignments included: associate pastor, St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish in Springfield from 1992-1997; chaplain of Springfield Catholic High School in 1996; member of the Diocesan Council on Family in 1997; temporary administrator of St. Mary Parish in Houston, St. John the Baptist Mission in Licking and St. Vincent de Paul Mission in Roby from 1997-1998; associate pastor of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish in Springfield from 1992-1998; associate pastor of Immaculate Conception Parish in Springfield from 1998-2000; pastor of St. Joseph Parish in Billings from 2000-2003; pastor of Sacred Heart Parish in Conway and St. William Parish in Buffalo from 2003-2005 and pastor of St. Susanne Parish in Mount Vernon and St. Patrick Mission in Greenfield from 2005-20013.

Established in 1956, the Diocese of Springfield-Cape Girardeau is comprised of 66 parishes, 18 mission churches, and four chapels covering 39 counties in southern Missouri and over 25,000 square miles. The Diocese serves a Catholic population of close to 68,000.
