| To the editor:
The Bush Administration and House Leadership have reached a deal on a package of incentives to stimulate the economy. The package will reportedly include a temporary tax cut and rebates for individuals and couples to spur consumer spending and an enhanced deduction for businesses purchasing equipment in 2008. Expensing for small businesses would also be increased.
So the rebate checks are due to be cut and mailed on or about May or early June. I plead that everyone write their Senator and Representative and plead the case for "fiscal responsibility" in this matter. May and June begin the "summer/vacationdriving season".
In order to allow for the most efficient distribution of the rebate money, and by that I mean to save unnecessary postage/handling/administrative costs, the money should just be sent in bulk directly to the respective "oil companies" who will be raising the fuel prices as they do every year about May and June. I see about $4.00 a gallon on our horizon. Please support "free market" economics and let us cut out the middle man.

PS, Somehow those three words, Bush-Stimulus-Package, seem to work together. I just can't seem to put my finger on it. Go Back |
