Contest features amateur photographers mangile
Updated: 2009-10-21 11:19:29
The Sperry-Galligar Audubon once again is sponsoring a free photo contest for amateur nature photographers from the 4-state area of Kansas, Oklahoma, Arkansas and Missouri, those who live approximately within 50 miles of Pittsburg or attend local colleges or other non-commuting schools. The group is soliciting photos from these categories: (1) animals in the wild (2) plants, landscapes and things in nature and (3) people engaged in nature. All must be shot within 150 miles of Pittsburg, KS.

The photos must be approximately 8x10 inches, mounted on foamboard and may only be cropped but not altered in any other way. The use of a mat is optional.

"The contest must be accessible to the average photographer," according to Dr. Steve Ford, contest director. "No photo-manipulating-type computer programs are to be used."

Five photos may be submitted from any category. A special form must be submitted with each entry.

Audubon membership is not required. The deadline is April 29, 2010. The winner of each of the three categories will receive a $25 certificate to a Pittsburg restaurant and a certificate of achievement. winners will be announced at the May 27, 2010 picnic.

All non-winning photos will be returned if self-addressed envelopes for this purpose are provided with entries. Winning photos in each category become the property of Sperry-Galligar Audubon to periodically be displayed in various public places.

For contest forms go here. To contact Ford for additional information send an e-mail here.
