Sen. Blunt welcomes shelter dog marchand
Updated: 2011-01-21 15:06:02
U.S. Senator Roy Blunt came to the Animal Adoption & Resource Center in Joplin on January 21, 2011, and left with his family's new pet, a 1-1/2 year old Silky Terrier mix. Blunt hopes that everyone will follow his family's lead by choosing a homeless shelter dog. The AARC cares for more than 12,000 animals each year. Only those choosing to adopt a shelter pet can lesson the growing number, that, if not adopted, face euthanasia. The center is located at 140 E. Emperor La. (off N. Main St.), Joplin. Winter adoption hours are 1-5 p.m., Tuesdays through Thursdays; 1-6 p.m. on Fridays and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturdays. For more information phone (417) 623-3642 or send an e-mail to info@joplinhumane.org.
