Point Counterpoint: Sciavo on Sciavo: "This is a sad day for Terri. But I'll tell you what: it's also is a sad day for everyone in this country because the United States government is going to come in and trample all over your personal family matters."

Michael Schiavo, Terri's husband as told on ABC's Good Morning America, March 21, 2005

House Majority Whip Blunt on Sciavo: "I am outraged that Congress acted quickly and under extraordinary circumstances to ensure protection of Terri Schiavo's rights under the U.S. Constitution, and neither the Eleventh Circuit, nor the Supreme Court deemed this case worthy of consideration. I am disheartened by the Court's dereliction of duty in this case."

Gov. Matt Blunt on Sciavo: "I extend my condolences to Terri Schiavo's family and am personally saddened by her death. I believe in upholding values that reinforce the right to life and feel that society should always err on the side of life. I disagree with many of the court decisions that brought us to this point and hope that we may honor Terri Schiavo's memory through a renewed commitment to life, especially for those who cannot choose for themselves."
