| Sharon Beshore of Joplin has been named to the Missouri State Council on the Arts. Gov. Matt Blunt made the announcement October 27, 2005. Beshore's appointment is for a term ending on October 13, 2008.
While serving her second term as president of the board of directors of the George A. Spiva Center for the Arts in Joplin, she has demonstrated a deep commitment to promoting the arts in the State of Missouri as a board member of the Missouri Citizens for the Arts. In addition, she has been on the board of the Missouri Southern International Piano Competition, an event recognized world-wide.
Her 22-years experience in education includes serving on the Board of Trustees of Thomas Jefferson Independent Day School in Joplin and acting as the development chairperson. She served as an instructor at the Learning Center of the School of Education at Missouri Southern State University and as an instructor at Pittsburg State University in Kansas. She holds teaching certicates from the states of Missouri, Colorado and Kentucky.
Beshore received an associate of arts degree from Stephens College in Columbia, MO, a B.S. in English/journalism from the University of Kansas, an M.A. in education (reading K-12) from the University of Colorado and finished with post-graduate courses in education at Pittsburg State University.
She is married to Lance Beshore who is vice president of governmental affairs for Leggett & Platt Inc. of Carthage. They have two sons. Go Back |
