Joplin Little Theatre launches a new website mariwinn
Updated: 2005-12-12 15:49:37

The Joplin Little Theatre has a new interactive website, according to an announcement by Tony Flint, JLT board second vice president. The address may be found in our "Links" section.

On a recent visit we found an amazing array of information already posted including surveys asking what types of shows audience members would like to see at JLT and whether they would like to be able to purchase tickets online. A calendar of events will include news of upcoming productions and events of interest to the community.

Like the Joplin Independent the JLT website encourages its readers to be interactive. There is a button for submitting news, a forum section, and a guestbook.

Checking out the module "Encyclopedia/Glossary," we found a couple of entries already posted under "Superstitions" that caught our eyes. For instance, did you know that there's a superstition involving three candles? "Actors usually dislike three candles on the stage or in a dressing-room," the entry said. Why? The obvious answer, we are reminded, is that "costumes and fresh paint are quick to catch fire," but, we also were told, "there is a very old superstition stating that if three, and only three candles, are lit in a room, the one closet to the shortest candle will be the first to either marry...or die...[and] to some either is as hazardous."

Signing up to be put on a mailing list is under construction, but will be an added convenience in the near future.
