Art in the Afternoon at Spiva mariwinn
Updated: 2006-02-17 11:26:57
Jimmye Dean Fagan of Joplin, at left, won the chance to have her portrait done by self-taught artist Andy Thomas during an Art in the Afternoon event on February 12, 2006 at the Spiva Center for the Arts, 222 West Third, Joplin. Thomas has the rapt attention of a large audience who came to hear his step-by-step approach to capturing a likeness as well as tips on drawing, color mixing, brush selection and technique. To the artist's right is his wife Dina who assisted him in the presentation. Behind the group is a selection of his paintings which will remain on display in the Spiva gallery until March 3.
