| I just got a phone call from someone doing a poll for Zogby International...and my reaction was wow, that organization is considered highly respectable by the mainstream press, especially Reuters, and quoted often.
For what party was I registered to vote? Well, uh, no party although to continue with the survey I had to admit to being something and chose "Independent/Minor," but "unaffiliated" would have been a better choice. It wasn't offered. By the way, I just got what "minor" meant.
I also felt the need to explain how Missouri allows me to cast a vote for a candidate from an opposing party whom I thought could be beaten in the regular election. And while I had no current intention of doing that mainly because I had no great love for any of the candidates running, I couldn't discount the possibility.
Do I want to vote for a candidate that supports the war, one who is a member of the Mormon Church or one who has ties to George Soros, an Israeli basher? Or do I want to vote for someone of my own female gender? ...or none of the above because they are all politicians and, well, I don't have to tell you how to define "politicians." I suppose some of them are scarier than others and I will eventually vote for the lesser of the two evils.
Since I am on a fixed income, I might be able to vote for someone who said, "No new taxes," but look where that got the voters before.
Another but..and there always seems to be a "but" when closely looking at an issue...but my distress over selecting a candidate or a party in the upcoming primary, I was told by this very depressed, tired-sounding voice, removed me from the computer.
