| David Burton heads public issue forum | mariwinn | | Updated: 2011-03-26 14:20:24 |  | | | Community journalists need to do a better job of separating themselves from the national news media, explaining the journalistic code of ethics and regularly asking customers for their opinions. At least that was the conclusion of the journalists who participated in the public issue forum dealing with news media and society and how to restore the public trust that was held on March 17, 2011, as part of the annual Ozark Press Association meeting at the Chateau on the Lake in Branson. While they had mixed feelings about many issues discussed, those present unanimously agreed that licensing for journalists was a stupid idea. David Burton, pictured, civic communication specialist for MU Extension, moderated the forum. The general public had been invited to participate in this forum whose topic seemed to be better suited to their reponses. However, none showed up. |
