| JLT presents Smokey Joe's Cafe | mariwinn | | Updated: 2011-08-23 22:40:57 |  | | | With a cast of 23 singing and dancing to over three dozen songs community members of the Joplin Little Theatre will be performing Smokey Joe's Cafe, and the music of Jerry Leiber and Mike Stoller. Performances are nightly from Tuesday through Saturday and a Sunday matinee. The entertainment is directed and choreographed by Heather Haar-Briley who is assisted by a production staff of 14. Leiber and Stoller have won numerous awards for their music which has been credited with changing pop music and kick-starting rock 'n roll. Sadly, Leiber, the lyricist of the duo, passed away August 22, 2011, at the age of 78. |
