|Jefferson City Ė The Missouri Division of Tourism (MDT), the Missouri Golf Association, Missouri Travel Council, and the Midwest Section of the PGA are have announced that the 2013 edition of Missouri Golf Day is set for Oct. 1, 2013, at Twin Oaks Country Club in Springfield.
The tournament is open to the public and offers an opportunity for golf enthusiasts from across the Midwest to play a four-person, best ball format, giving teams a great chance to post low scores while enjoying a day of golf with Missouriís tourism industry members and dignitaries from various golf associations.
Proceeds from the tournament benefit the SNAG-a-School (Starting New at Golf) initiative, a program to teach elementary school children how to play golf.
Registration is $500 for a four-person team, or $125 for those who register individually to be placed on a team. The fee includes range balls, a gift at the first tee, 18 holes of golf (with cart), lunch on the course and refreshments.
At 8:30 a.m. registration will begin and the driving range will open on the day of the event. The scramble tournament begins with a shotgun start at 9:30 a.m. Spectators are welcome on the course, at no charge.
This tournament serves as the opening event for the 2013 Missouri Governorís Conference on Tourism, held at the Ramada Plaza Hotel and Oasis Convention Center in Springfield. Players in the golf tournament and attendees of the conference do not have to be members of, nor connected with, the tourism industry. Everyone is welcome.
