Audubon center seeks volunteers
July 27, 2009
The Wildcat Glades Conservation & Audubon Center is beginning their volunteer training program. If you are interested in nature education and natural history, Wildcat Glades is the place for you! No experience is needed.

The training consists of two sessions held at the Audubon Center from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. on Saturday, August 1 and from noon to 4 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 2.

Space is limited to 25 and participants must be able to attend all sessions and be willing to commit to a minimum of four hours per month when training is complete. (If it is impossible to make all 12 hours of training, staff will try to work around your schedule).

Training includes policies and procedures, natural history and the flora and fauna of the park. Opportunity areas include front desk reception, nature store, trail guides, landscape and trail maintenance and education programs. Benefits include training opportunities, discounts in the nature store, recognition events and the personal satisfaction of making a difference.

Volunteers must be at least 16 years old and pass a criminal background check before working at the Center. Specific training for various Center roles will be offered after the initial training.

To join the Audubon Center volunteers, please contact Chris Pistole, education director, at 782-NATR before Friday, July 31.
