Verizon brings 4G LTE to Springfield/Branson mfarnen
Updated: 2011-10-11 12:26:26
Verizon Wireless yesterday (Oct. 10, 2011) announced that on November 17, 2011, Springfield and Branson will be part of its 4G Long Term Evolution (LTE) network in an expansion that will include 178 cities nationwide. This also means that on November 20 residents in areas like Willard, Strafford, Brookline, Battlefield, Nixa, Ozark, Clever, Sparta, Highlandville, Rockaway Beach, Hollister, Kimberling City, Reeds Spring and Galena with 4G LTE devices will be able to take advantage of what Verizon considers "the nation's fastest 4G network with speeds up to 10 times faster than their 3G network. Coverage will include Table Rock Lake and across the Missouri State University campus.

"We are proud to introduce our 4G LTE network to the Springfield/Branson area and help lead residents, small businesses and local government into the next generation of connectivity and communications technology," Said Brendan Fallis, president of the Kansas/Missouri region, Verizon Wireless. "Our 4G LTE network is revolutionizing the way our customers communicate, enabling them to connect faster and more fully with each other and those outside our community."

Verizon Wireless introduced its 4G LTE network on December 5, 2010, covering more than 110 million Americans. Since its launch, the 4G LTE network has won numerous technology and consumer choice awards. In real world, fully loaded network environments Verizon Wireless 4G LTE customers in the greater Springfield/Branson area should experience average data rates of 5 to 12 megabits per second (Mbps) on the downlink and 2 to 5 Mbps on the uplink.
