Updated: 2008-12-04 08:33:57

Danielle Dunn, 22, of Joplin (pictured) was named Miss Midland Empire 2009. Miss Midland Empire is a preliminary pageant to the Miss Missouri pageant held in Mexico, MO the first week of June 2009. This will be Dunn's second year in the Miss Missouri pageant; she made the Top 10 last year. Her platform issue is "Sun Safety: Lather Up".

Dunn graduated from Missouri Southern State University in 2007 with a Bachelor of Arts in mass communication and Spanish. She is an office administrator with Marshall Hogue's branch office of Edward Jones on Maiden Lane in Joplin. In her spare time she is the children's choir director for Villa Heights Christian Church as well as a TREK coach for the Joplin Chamber of Commerce.

This is the first year of the Miss Midland Empire scholarship pageant. It is directed by Tracey Koranda of St. Joseph and Cammi Zimmerman of Maryville.
