| United Way of Southwest Missouri has announced that applications are now available for their Single Parent Scholarship Fund of Jasper and Newton Counties. The money will be available for the Spring 2010 semester. The fund is a United Way initiative that assists single parents in pursuing a higher education in order to improve their lives and the lives of their children. Scholarship money may be used for assistance with tuition, books, utility bills, car maintenance, child care or other financial needs to allow the recipients to achieve their educational goals.
