| Bishop James V. Johnston has announced that Fr. Frederick J. Lutz, pastor of St. Mary's parish in Lamar, has been granted his request for retirement from the responsibilities of active ministry as a priest in the Diocese of Springfield-Cape Girardeau.
In addition to his current assignment as pastor St. Peter the Apostle Parish of Joplin, Fr. J. Friedel will serve as the new pastor of St. Mary's in Lamar effective March 1, 2011. Fr. Shoby Mathew Chettiyath, a priest of St. John the Baptist Precursor, India, will serve as associate pastor.
