| On November 4, 2011, at 9:48 a.m. the Joplin Police Department responded to I-44 mile marker 2.2 for a report of a one-vehicle crash.
A passenger car was headed westbound on I-44 when the driver of the vehicle lost control and the vehicle left the roadway. The driver has been identified as Amory S. Cook, a 31-year-old male from Quapaw, OK. The driver was pronounced dead at the scene.
The passenger of the vehicle has been identified as Brandon L. Caton, a 29-year-old male from Springfield. The passenger was transported by EMS to Freeman West ER where currently he is listed in critical condition.
