Joplin Police Blotter: Scooter victim identified mstewart
Updated: 2012-05-04 14:12:26
The Joplin Police Department at 5:12 p.m. on May 3, 2012, responded to the area of East 7th and Peters (near Target and Dollar General), in reference a three vehicle injury crash involving a scooter.

The investigation at this time indicates the scooter was exiting Dollar General parking lot and pulled out in front of a Dodge SUV, which was traveling eastbound. The SUV struck the scooter, and the vehicles continued for a distance, as they crossed over into the westbound lanes. As both the scooter and SUV crossed over into westbound lanes, they struck a passenger vehicle which had stopped to try and avoid the crash.

The driver of the scooter, Sasha D, Harrelson, a 24 year old female of Joplin, was transported to Freeman West, where she was pronounced dead. There were no other injuries reported.

This crash is still under investigation and waiting for toxicology results.

The Joplin Police Department want to remind everyone to watch for motorcycles, as this is our second serious crash in two days involving two wheeled vehicles.
