Vandals sought in damage to Cunningham pool
May 23, 2013
The Joplin Police Department is seeking information regarding vandalism that occurred at Cunningham Park on the night of May 21, 2013.

Joplin Parks and Recreation employees the next day reported that the water had been drained from the pool. Vandals broke a lock to the pool area, accessed and opened a drain valve that allowed over 200,000 gallons of water to be drained from the pool. Large landscaping rocks around the reflecting pond also had been tossed into the pond causing workers to have to remove the rocks and rebuild the landscaping. Estimated damages are around $4000.00

All the damages had been repaired prior to the ceremony commemorating the 2nd anniversary of the May 22nd Tornado.

If you have any information regarding who may have done the damage to the park please contact the Joplin Police Department at (417) 623-3131, file a report here or submitting a tip through the Heartland Crimestoppers by calling (417) 782-TIPZ or going here.
