Orchestra to present double concertos in Monett

The Ozark Festival Orchestra (OFO) will continue its 32nd season with its Soloists Showcase concert at 3 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 26, 2012. It will take place in the Monett City Hall Auditorium, corner of 5th & Bond and will be the third of five concert's in OFO's season.

Featured will be two double concertos showcasing four soloists, according to Ken Meisinger, music director. From the pen of Georg Philipp Telemann, the most prolific of all composers, comes the Concerto for Two Violas and Orchestra. Soloists will be Elizabeth Meisinger, the OFO concert master, and Celka Ojakangas, a former student of Meisinger's. From Karl Stamitz, a contemporary of Mozart, comes the Concerto for Two Clarinets and Orchestra. Soloists will be the OFO clarinet section, Y. Anjanette Nowell and Janis Neher.

Elizabeth Meisinger, a graduate of San Francisco State University and Missouri Southern State University, teaches private violin and viola lessons. Ojakangas, a graduate of Springfield Central High School, is a student at Drury University. She currently studies viola with Darrell Barnes.

Nowell, who holds music degrees from Missouri State University, is coordinator of the Center for Arts in the Schools at the Juanita K. Hammons Hall for the Performing Arts. Neher is a music educator in the East Newton School District. She has degrees from Stephen S. Austin University and Missouri State University.

The concert also includes the Suite #1 for Small Orchestra by English composer Gordon Jacob and the Overture in D Major by Franz Schubert in an arrangement by Thor Johnson.

Admission is $5 for adults. High school students and younger will be admitted free of charge.
