Precious Moments design is festival choice nmyers
Updated: 2014-04-07 12:41:38
A design submitted by Precious Moments graphic artist Crystal Manning using artwork created by the founder of Precious Moments, Samuel J. Butcher has been selected by the 48th annual Maple Leaf Festival planning committee as the winning artwork for the festival. Artists, students and local residents were asked to submit work to represent this year’s theme “Crossroads of America”.

The winning entry, at left, depicts a young man and lady traveling Route 66 through Carthage, set against a background of the Jasper County Courthouse and the State of Missouri. The artwork will appear in coordinating marketing, including the official brochure, for the annual city celebration set for October 11-18, 2014, in Carthage. The image will also be printed on official festival gear which will be available for pre-order.

“On behalf of Samuel J. Butcher, his family, and all of our employees it is an honor to learn that this Precious Moments design was chosen as the 2014 Maple Leaf Festival official artwork," said Terri Heckmaster, president of the Precious Moments Supporting Foundation. "It is especially exciting to us in this, the Precious Moments Chapel’s 25th Anniversary year, that artist Crystal Manning’s design utilizing Mr. Butcher’s Precious Moments artwork was selected.”
