Heartland Crime Stoppers would like to announce the arrest of Douglas B. Sheets. In November of 2010, Crime Stoppers asked for help in locating Sheets. He was wanted for 2nd Degree Burglary, 1st Degree Tampering with Service of Utility, and 1st Degree Tampering with a Motor Vehicle – Airplane. As a result of the anonymous tips received since November, Sheets was arrested in Cedar County, Missouri on February 20, 2011.

Sheets is now one of three wanted persons Heartland Crime Stoppers, Inc. has helped law enforcement captured since starting their program on May 1, 2010. The first was the arrest of Jose Garcia on May 22, 2010 and second, Joseph Long on August 19, 2010.

Two other Crime Stoppers organizations have played a vital role in capturing persons wanted in two high profile cases for the Joplin Police Department. Most recently was the arrest with the help of the Ft. Smith, Arkansas Crime Stoppers of Robert B. Knepper, the September 16, 2010 Great Southern Bank robber, and with assistance from the Brownsville, Texas Crime Stoppers with the arrest of Jose Cazares, who committed the July 14, 2006 homicide of Joshua Olson.

People with information about any felony crime, are asked to call Crime Stoppers at (417) 869-TIPZ (8479) or to submit information securely on-line here. They do not have to give their names; no attempt is made to find out identities.

Crime Stoppers takes information about drugs dealers, wanted felons, and all other felony crimes. We pay rewards of up to $1,000.00 in cash for the information that leads to the arrest and the filing of charges against people involved in felony crimes.
