Regarding the Eckersley e-mail affair robinson
Updated: 2008-11-17 10:16:47
To the editor:

As you may or may not be aware The Associated Press, St. Louis Post-Dispatch and the Kansas City Star had a litigation interest in lawsuits about e-mail. Further, there are fact errors in news accounts that you may have seen that we will be attempting to correct.

In addition, you may recall the issue involving this former employee began when he made false claims to the media that he had been fired for reasons involving the Sunshine Law and record retention law. The more than 60,000 pages of requested and provided e-mail documents do not support this claim.

This critical fact was largely ignored by these media outlets. While giving it little prominence, The Associated Press did accurately report, "There were no e-mails that state Eckersley was fired for raising concerns about the office's e-mail policies."

Jessica Robinson
press secretary, Office of Governor Matt Blunt
