In December 2014, Blunt joined an amicus brief led by U.S. Senator Ted Cruz (Texas) and co-signed by U.S. Senator John Cornyn (Texas) in support of the lawsuit brought by the State of Texas against President Obama’s illegal amnesty.
“The president cannot continue to blatantly ignore the nation’s laws and the Constitution. This ruling reaffirms that President Obama was right when he said at least 22 times he didn’t have the authority to take this action on immigration,” said Blunt. “I’ll keep fighting to stop President Obama’s illegal amnesty. It’s time for Senate Democrats to join us in standing up for the rule of law and to begin debate on the bill to fund the Department of Homeland Security.”
In January 2015, Blunt reintroduced the ENFORCE the Law Act, which would ensure the president upholds his constitutional obligation to “take care that the laws be faithfully executed.” Blunt recently spoke on the U.S. Senate floor regarding his efforts to stop the president’s executive amnesty.
