It's not about education; it's about gambling rsalva

To the Editor

Proposition A is the biggest scam that has ever been before the voters. Ameristar Casino wrote and paid for this amendment. They have spent $20 million advertising, that "it's about our kids and education.” This is a lie and is the

highest form of hypocrisy that I have ever witnessed.

What Prop A really does is repeal the $500 loss limit, a pro-family measure. It changes the entry requirements so organized crime figures and sexual deviates, problem gamblers, and dead beat dads will now be able to enter. It changes the two hour cruise law so local entities will loose millions of dollars. It also limits competition by allowing only the seven existing casino owners a license to operate.

For all of this, the casinos are offering a one percent increase in their taxes.

In the last 15 years, what percent have your taxes, fees, utility rates, and health care gone up? Yet they think a measly one percent is a big deal. Remember, they will pay for this one percent increase by lowering the payouts on the slot machines.

T. J. Barnum said, “there’s a sucker born every minute.” Don’t be fooled. Vote "NO" on Prop A.

Missouri State Representative, District 51
