Sarcoxie gets drug drop-off box
April 04, 2016
In partnership with the Sarcoxie Police Department and The city of Sarcoxie, The Alliance of Southwest Missouri will be permanently installing a drug take back box at Sarcoxie City Hall, 111 N. 6th St., Sarcoxie. The drop-off box is the result of individuals in the area voicing their concern for the safety of their community. A ribbon cutting will take place there at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, Apr. 6, 2016.

We are excited to partner with The Alliance of Southwest Missouri to make this service available to the community, Mayor Don Triplett said. Having a location where people can safely and

properly dispose of their medications without having to drive far is something weve aimed for, for quite some time.

The drug take back boxes exist because the use of prescription drugs among teens is at an all-time high. Many people keep prescription drugs in their homes and medicine cabinets and do not properly dispose of them once they are expired or are no longer needed. Mayor Triplett also adds,

The Alliance is dedicated in making the four-states a safer, healthier community. This ribbon cutting could not be possible without the partnership of the Sarcoxie Police Department and the city of Sarcoxie.
