Costume collection at museum is preserved s-smith
Updated: 2008-11-08 10:14:11
Pictured is a costume that is part of a collection at the Dorothea B. Hoover Museum in Joplin. Members of a service learning costume history class taught by Anne Jaros at Missouri Southern State University are working with the Joplin Museum Complex to date, catalog, photograph and preserve the entire textile collection, tasks that desperately were in need of being done. Students after doing research on 19th and 20th century costume design, determine the date and occasion for which each costume would have been worn, fill out condition reports, and then pack each garment in acid-free tissue and a box for storage.
