JOPLIN - British composer/TV and radio host Howard Goodall, pictured at right, is the latest recipient of the Karl Haas Prize for Music Education awarded by the Klassix Society/Friends of KXMS (88.7 FM). Goodall is the fifth person to receive the award named after Karl Haas, long-time host of radio's "Adventures in Good Music."
The award is given annually to highlight the efforts of people in radio or radio programs contributing significantly to music education. Since the formation of the KXMS friends organization in 1989, music education has been a core mission of both the radio station and the society.
A cultural resource and a community service of Missouri Southern State University, KXMS has championed music education as an important component of fine arts radio through both its programming since 1986, and more recently through its web portal.
A schoolmate of actor Rowan Atkinson, Goodall wrote the theme music for Atkinson's Blackadder and Mr. Bean TV series. He also wrote the original music for the 2007 film Mr. Bean's Holiday.
Composer-in-Residence at Classic FM, Goodall has two current best-selling albums on the British and American music charts. Go Back |
