MSSU tuition is relaxed for out-of-area students
May 20, 2012
JOPLIN - Students living outside the state of Missouri can now qualify for Missouri Southern State Universitys in-state tuition rate, after the MSSU Board of Governors gave their approval today recently to a new tuition proposal that will make college more affordable for families. The new Lion Pride Tuition plan will qualify students living in large portions of Kansas, Oklahoma, Arkansas and Illinois for the current in-state tuition rate, saving them thousands of dollars in tuition each year.

Specifically, the Lion Pride Tuition plan gives the in-state rate of $169.48 per credit hour to students as far west as Wichita, KS and as far south as Fort Smith, AR. It also extends deep into Oklahoma and Illinois. The new plan will go into effect this fall for students who meet MSSUs admissions requirements. The university also recently signed articulation agreements with two-year schools to make it easier for students to transfer to MSSU.

We exist to help students achieve their goals, said Dr. Sherry Buchanan, chair of the MSSU Board of Governors. This plan will make it easier for them to do that.
