Plan ahead, save, visiting downtown Missouri city s-wade
Updated: 2007-10-11 13:31:03
Springfield, MO patrons now have three options to make dining, entertainment and shopping downtown more attractive: free parking, a free cab ride or group savings. There's a caveat but it is no problem for those accustomed to making plans ahead. These free options are included in pre-paid packages with a price tag of either $50, $100 or $200.

Called "Night on the Town" the program devised by the Urban Districts Alliance (UDA) in cooperation with a group of 16 restaurants, five retailers and five entertainment venues offers the following benefits:

  • $50 package: $50 in "Night on the Town Dollars," buy one/get one free voucher at Mudhouse, and a voucher for free parking for couples or families in the Great Southern Bank lot at South Ave. and Elm St.

  • $100 package: $100 in "Night on the Town Dollars," free cab ride for up to four people from a home or hotel within Springfield city limits to downtown and back

  • $200 package: $230 in "Night on the Town Dollars," priority dinner reservations at participating restaurants

“In listening to our customers, we felt these programs could address three areas: free parking for couples and families driving downtown, a free cab ride from their home or hotel for up to four people for those desiring alternative transportation and a 15% bonus for groups that want to dine at one of our outstanding restaurants,” said Rusty Worley, UDA executive director.

Program participants include: restaurants, etc.--Big Whiskey's American Bar, Blue Plate Restaurant, Bruno's, Coester's Sports Bar & Grill, Hickok's Steakhouse & Brewery, Kai, Marco's Pizza, Maria's, Mille's Care, Mudhouse, Mudlounge, Patton Alley Pub, Planet Smoothie, Riad, Springfield Brewing Company, Trolley's Bar & Grill; retailers--Fitzwilly's Gifts & Antiques, Shae Belle, Springfield Hot Glass Studio, Staxx, Well Fed Head Books; and entertainment--2nd Stage, Gillioz Theatre, Moxie Cinema, Skinny Improv and Springfield Little Theater.

“Night on the Town” packages are available for purchase at www.itsalldowntown.com or by calling (417) 831-6200. Customers are asked to purchase packages 24-hours in advance, or by 3 p.m. on Friday for Saturday and Sunday dining and shopping.
