| To the editor:
On April 22, The Missouri Jobs and Prosperity Act (House Bill HJR56) passed through the House Ways and Means Committee, but it has not yet been put on the calendar for further action. Why not??? This legislative session ends on May 14, 2010; so, why aren’t our legislators working to get this bill on our November ballot so that we citizens can vote on it? Why is this being held up?
The bill, which will eliminate Missouri’s state income tax over a five-year period, will help to improve the economic future for Missouri’s families and businesses. Introducing this tax reform will be a good first step in strengthening this state and giving us more control over our earnings. Information about the bill can be found here.
Please urge Speaker Ron Richard (ph. (573) 751-2173; fax: (573) 526-5813) and Representative Mike Sutherland (ph. (573) 751-2689; fax: (573) 526-0559) to put this bill on the calendar as soon as possible before the end of this legislative session.
