| Water quality awareness will be the theme of a one-day free festival sponsored by the Jasper County Water Watchers, otherwise known as Stream Team 3320. Waterfest 2008 will take place from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on May 31, 2008 at Kellogg Lake in Carthage.
The group Kufara will provide musical entertainment. Interactive educational booths will be set up for the entertainment of all ages. Included are an Envirascape and Envirathon trunk, insect ID games and a "brain gauge" and instruction on fly fishing supplied by MAKO, a local fly tying club. A play area with a rock climbing wall will be provided as well as hourly raffles culminating in the award of a grand prize.
Stream teams that are interested in being part of the event should ask for an application form and rules of engagement. They should come with their awards for public display, chairs and a raffle item. For more information, phone (417) 673-2723 or send an e-mail here.
Kellogg Lake Park is located on the right hand side of Highway 96, just east of town.
