Three Missourians finished in the top ten of the 2008 US Open Turkey Calling Contest. Billy Yargus of Ewing, MO, holding a check for $1500, took third place in the contest held recently at the Bass Pro Shops Outdoor World store at the Opry Mills Mall in Nashville, TN. James Harrison of Hillsboro, MO placed fourth winning $1,000 and Chris Parrish of Centralia, Mo finished sixth winning $350. To reach the finals, preliminary contestants were selected at the U.S. Open Turkey Calling qualifying rounds held at various Bass Pro locations in the US. All expenses were paid for finalists to compete in Nashville. The Open Turkey Calling Contest, considered one of the most prestigious calling contests in the country, was won by Matthew Van Cise of Brookville, PA. His check was for $5,0000; Sadler McGraw of Camden, AL came in second winning $2500.
