| International Arts Management a subsidiary of The Messiah Project is organizing 150 American performers to join over 100 Russian singers and instrumentalists in presenting the first-ever performance of George Frederick Handel's Messiah in Moscow's State Kremlin Palace Theater, Moscow's largest, best equipped, and most prestigious concert hall.
"It is amazing that such a momentous event can originate in the Midwest USA," said Lindsey Robinson, tour organizer from Springfield.
The most famous and glorious sections of Handel's work will be performed. Also included will be The Missouri Waltz performed by a ballroom dance ensemble and spiritual and patriotic works by American composers. The tour's hosts will perform works celebratory of the Russian spirit and nation and share fellowship.
Though "Merging Musical Worlds" culminates with a performance in Moscow, the tour will begin in the historic and elegant city of St. Petersburg, with opportunities for sightseeing in quaint villages in the Russian countryside and additional performances along the way.
Auditions will be held in the following cities:
- Springfield: 2-4 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 14 at the Credo Arts Center, 931 S. Kickapoo; phone (417) 496-1587 or send an e-mail here.
- St. Louis: 2:30-4:30 p.m., Sunday Nov. 15 at the Recital Hall of the Pillsbury Chapel and Dale Williams Fine Arts Center, Missouri Baptist University; contact Larry Smith by phoning (314) 392-2108 or sending an e-mail here
