Blunt comments on his bid for Senate seat staff
Updated: 2009-11-03 12:27:40
Commentary by Roy Blunt

In one year, on Election Day 2010, Missouri's decision on U.S. Senator will be in the national spotlight. Which way will Bellwether Missouri turn on November 2, 2010, [just about] one short year from today?

I say we must choose a new direction, in favor of freedom, common sense in federal spending, lower taxes, and Missouri values.

The national Democrats want Missouri and our nation to follow Barack Obama, Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid and ACORN straight down the liberal road to national bankruptcy, a mountain of debt for our children and grandchildren, government-run medicine, the national energy tax, and very extreme liberal policies on abortion, how we define marriage, Second Amendment freedom and other vital issues.

In only 10 months, the Washington liberal way has sent the jobless rate soaring to nearly 10 percent with new national debt and budget deficits never imagined, at any time in our history. Now, the liberal one-party monopoly in Washington wants vast new taxes, huge cuts in Medicare for seniors, and unprecedented direct control over your health care....

Editor's note: Congressman Roy A. Blunt (R-7) is seeking the seat of retiring Senator Christopher "Kit" Bond in the November 2010 election. Blunt's opposition is Democratic candidate and Missouri Secretary of State, Robin Carnahan.
