KidsFirst offers free tutoring staff
Updated: 2010-01-13 10:02:24
Free team tutoring is available for all Webb City area children in kindergarten through third grade, according to an announcement by Sara Bennett, executive director of the local chapter of KidsFirst. Instruction will be offered from 3:15-5:30 p.m. on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays at the Frisco Church, Madison and Daugherty, Webb City.

"We will work as a team, consisting of the student, his parents, his tutor, and his teacher or counselor, determining together what areas to focus on, and what learning method will work best," Bennett said. "We will focus on on-standard methods of teaching, such as kinesthetic learning....." Improving the student's self-esteem will be a major goal for every child.

A referral from the classroom teacher as well as an in-take interview will be required before tutoring is approved. A light snack will be provided. Transportation will be the parent's responsibility.

To assist in this program as a volunteer tutor or for more information phone Bennett at (417) 483-0459.
