Unmasked bank robber is sought staff
Updated: 2010-09-17 13:46:58

For those wondering why all at once three Joplin police vehicles and one Newton County Sheriff's Department car were traveling with lights and sirens yesterday, Sept. 16, 2010, wonder no more. At 5:08 p.m. the Joplin Police Department was called to the Great Southern Bank at 1232 S. Range Line in reference to an Armed Robbery.

Upon arrival it was determined that a white male, captured by the bank camera and pictured above, approximately 5' 9" and medium build, wearing a blue New York Mets cap, a long sleeve solid blue shirt with a sleeveless plaid shirt and blue jeans entered the bank.

The suspect who also had a beard, two blackened eyes and a band-aid over his nose displayed a handgun, jumped over the counter and took an undetermined amount of money.

Great Southern Bank is offering a $10,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for this robbery. The investigation is continuing by the Investigations Division of the Joplin Police Department. If you have any information please call (417) 623-3131.
