The Springfield News-Leader announced today its “School Supplies for Joplin Kids” fundraising campaign that will run until July 22, 2011. The campaign goal is to provide students with a complete, pre-packaged kit with all the school supplies on the Joplin Schools list. They are asking their readers to make a donation of $20 which will provide a Joplin elementary student with all new supplies for the school year along with a backpack.

They are asking that checks be made out to "Community Foundation of the Ozarks," specifying the “School Supplies for Joplin Kids” fund and mailed to "School Supplies for Joplin Kids," c/o Community Foundation of the Ozarks, P.O. Box 8960, Springfield, MO 65801.
