New director named for Rebuild Joplin
August 26, 2011

Kate Massey has been named executive director of Rebuild Joplin, according to an announcement by Kim Vann, executive director of Bright Futures of which Rebuild Joplin is an initiative. Massey will assume some of the responsibilities undertaken by Garen McMillian, a financial advisor with Wells Fargo Advisors who spent the past 85 days as volunteer executive director.

Massey has served in senior roles in public and community relations in her past work with Freeman Health Systems, the Carthage Convention & Visitors Bureau and Edward Jones. She has a bachelors degree in communication from Pittsburg State University.

"I've learned amazing things can be accomplished when people unite with a common goal. I'm excited to work for Rebuild Joplin, an organization that is committed to seeing Joplin fully recover from the tornado, said Massey.

Bright Futures is a grass roots, community based program that creates partnerships and utilizes community resources for the common goal of helping children and strengthening families and the community. In the wake of the tornado on May 22, 2011, the group branched out to meet the needs of those impacted.
