| Omega Health Care of Southwest Missouri, Inc., a company that provides hospice services, is looking for office space in the Joplin, Carthage, Webb City areas in order to expand its services locally. Currently located in Springfield, they also are looking to increase their volunteer staff.
Volunteers should have cooking and/or cleaning skills, compassion, a musical talent or any other specialty or service to share with hospice patients. Training also will be offered for those seeking experience in an office-type environment. In addition to volunteers who assist family caregivers while they take a break or run errands, the Omega team consists of physicians, nurses, social workers, chaplains (if requested) and home health aides. Using a holistic approach, the company provides compassionate care and pain management to people nearing the end of their lives as well as support for their families.
The company’s goal is to inform and educate the community, as well as the medical professionals with whom they interact, that hospice is NOT what it used to be. Hospice is not a “death sentence” but rather quite the contrary. Patients with a terminal diagnosis that receive hospice care live, on average, 29 days longer than those who choose to forgo the benefit.
Omega Health Care of Southwest Missouri began operation in the Springfield area in 2009. They serve a 21-county area surrounding Springfield and Joplin.
