| Young Joplin actress lands Annie role | staff | | Updated: 2012-02-01 08:49:00 |  | | | Carolyn Billingsley of Joplin, 12, recently landed the lead role in Annie, the musical based on the Little Orphan Annie comic strip. She joins a cast of more than 40 actors and dog Sandy for Springfield Little Theatre's new staging of the 1977 Broadway hit, returning to the historic Landers Theater after about a decade. Billingsley previously has performed the role of fellow orphan Tessie but now gets to play the part she's always wanted. The show will run from February 3-19.
