| Michael Wade, the former treasurer for the city of Nevada, Missouri, has been named assistant finance director for the city of Joplin, according to a new announcement. He will assume his post starting on January 3, 2013.
Working closely with Joplin Finance Director Leslie Jones, Wade will assist with the management of accounting and finance functions, accounts payable and receivable and other daily operations in the department.
Wade's most recent experience included responsibility for receiving all cash, paying all bills, and recording and reporting all those transactions. His department also issued all water/sewer bills and collected payment for them, paid all the city’s bills and salaries of its employees.
Wade has held various position in government finance, including finance director for the city of Belton, Missouri for 11 years before retiring as director. He also has worked in the finance departments of Grandview and Independence Missouri.
Mike has a great deal of knowledge and proficiency with city government finances,” said Jones. “He brings a lot to Joplin and I know he’ll be a great asset to our organization and community. I look forward to working with him here at the City.”
Wade holds a master’s degree in management from Rockhurst University, Kansas City, MO and a Bachelor of Science in accounting from Graceland University in Lamoni, Iowa.
He has been hired at a starting salary of $64,480.
