Volunteers needed for botanical gardens staff
Updated: 2013-01-27 12:34:49
Springfield-Greene County Parks and its ever-growing botanical gardens is looking for volunteers to assist with garden maintenance, education programs and tours, membership and more. Several garden enthusiast groups maintain the gardens and forge friendships in this setting. Here's a chance to meet other plant lovers and learn more about plants.

A series of volunteer training sessions called First Friday Friends will meet in the community room, beginning February 1, 2013, at 10 a.m. Reserve a spot by calling (417) 891-1515. Light refreshments will be served.

The series will be held the first Friday of each month. Volunteers will be introduced to opportunities within the Friends of the Garden organization. Topics presented are:

  • What is a Botanical Garden? - February 1st

  • The Botanical Reference Library - March 1st

  • MO Arbor Day Tree Talk Walk - April 5th

  • National Wildflower Week Walk - May 3rd

  • History Walk and Talk - June 7th

The Botanical Center is located in Nathanael Greene/Close Memorial Park, 2400 S. Scenic, Springfield.
