Race to become the most colorful canvas staff
Updated: 2013-01-30 18:20:21

Are you ready for the craziest, colorful 5K of your life? That's what the organizers of The Color Run™ are asking those concerned less about speed and more about having a good time with friends and family.

What is unique about this 5K race is that competitors could include a casual morning stroller or an Olympic athlete, all who pass through color zones. Passing each kilometer of the event participants wearing something white are blitzed by race officials tossing a designated color: yellow, orange, pink and blue. At the finish line they are promised a color extravaganza of epic proportions, each having been given their own non-toxic color packs.

Several cities are participating in the event that partners with local sponsors and one local charity. In Springfield the event will take place on Saturday, Apr. 6, 2013. Start time is 9 a.m. The course for Springfield may be found here.

Other cities in the local area include Tulsa, OK on April 20, 2013 and Kansas City, Missouri on June 1, 2013. For a complete list of locations and links for registration go here.

Participants may register as a solo runner/walker or join a team of four or more for reduced admission. Early registration is encouraged.

Before February 15, 2013, the fee for a solo runner/walker is $40, $45 each from February 15 to March 15 and $50 each thereafter. For a team of four or more admission is reduced by $5. Tips on forming a team may be found here.
