Natural beauty embellishes Joplin City Hall
June 09, 2013
Several photographs were chosen to hang in the Joplin City Council chambers and the mayor's office as the result of an art competition, "Joplin Art Rocks." The inaugural competition initiated and judged by Joplin Mayor Melodee Colbert-Kean had to depict the beauty of Joplin's natural landscape.

Submissions were from Becky Wylie, Teresa and Tori Morris, Ann Butts, Brian Head, Dustin Storm and anonymous members of the Wildcat Nature Center.

These artists demonstrate the creative mindset and abilities that are prevalent within our community Colbert-Kean said. We are thrilled to showcase their talents within the walls of city hall and remind all who visit how much we value our area artists and the contribution they make towards our community.

Plans are underway for another contest to be held in the spring of 2014.
