More about the Alberici
The Alberici, a LEED Certified Platinum model of sustainable design is located directly off Hwy. 170 at Page Avenue heading east in St. Louis. Its entrance is on the right. Follow the signs for visitor parking.
Featuring extensive use of native prairie plants, the grounds eliminate the need for an irrigation system. Within the prairie environment are walking trails for the benefit of employees and visitors.
What is most noticeable is the 65-kilowatt wind turbine capable of generating 20 percent of the building's total energy needs. Also constructed are two retention ponds to eliminate storm water runoff and a catchment system to collect rainwater from the garage roof that is then stored in a cistern for use as sewage conveyance, reportedly saving about 150,000 gallons of water per year.
