Electric bill scam staff
Updated: 2014-07-05 16:53:29
It's highly unlikely that any of our readers would fall for a scam extorting money, but we are being asked by the Joplin Police Department to notify our readers about one that is recurring. Someone again is posing as a representative of the Empire District Electric Company demanding a payment to avoid a shut-off. The request sounds like it is being made by (a)a kid, (b)an idiot or (c)an idiot kid. You may add yourself to the stats by contacting your local police department and/or contacting Empire District at (800) 206-2300. It is doubtful that Empire will reduce your electric bill for your trouble.
