Funds are awarded to extend Ruby Jack Trail
August 22, 2014
A Recreational Trails Program grant has been awarded to the Joplin Trails Coalition to fund surfacing of the Carl Junction segment of the Ruby Jack Trail. The funds administered by the Missouri Department of Natural Resources will complete two miles of the trail from Highway 171 to Highway J.

"The grant brings us closer to completion of the 16-mile trail," Paul Teverow coalition secretary said. While the funds require a local match, part of which already has been pledged by local individuals and businesses, "part of the local match can be met by in-kind work," Teverow added. Work days will be organized to help prepare the trail surface when arrangements for engineering are made.
